On the 8th of March 2019, N’Zarama Center for Peacebuilding (NCP) organized a training session targeted at women in universities and those seeking employment. The aim was to contribute to the development and empowerment of women, enhancing their employability as well as

reinforcing their leadership capabilities. The training was held at its headquarter in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The national theme (The professional success of women in the digital age) inspired the various thematic topics that were discussed by the female staff of NCP, with the aim of enhancing the professional competitiveness of women.

Mrs Stephanie Minou (Program officer) led discussions on how to write a professional CV. She noted that CV’s do not have a standard format, however, she advised the participants to match their CVs to specific positions sought.

Subsequently, a presentation on how to write a successful motivation letter was given by Mrs. Adeline Touali, the program manager. She advised the participants to avoid writing details already reflected the in their CVs but rather focus on highlighting skills and interests that will convince an employer to select them over other candidates.

Thereafter, Mrs Flaviour Chanda (Program officer) spoke about the attitudes to adopt during a job interview. She emphasized on the need to develop our emotional intelligence as this is fast becoming a critical skill. Those with high emotional intelligence are able to manage their emotions as well as use their emotions to facilitate their thinking and understand the emotions of others.

The final thematic topic of day was on the role of digital technology in job searching presented by Mrs. Karbo (member of the board of advisors and the chief of staff at the National Chamber of Kings and Traditional Chiefs of Cote d’Ivoire). She shared her experiences on how technology facilitated her search for jobs and highlighted the different ways on how to use technology, as well as the different websites to consult when searching for jobs.

The participants of the training will be part of the group of women who will take part in the future activities of the organization so as to help their personal development.
